Who is a Virgin?
WHO IS A VIRGIN?
A virgin is a person who has never had any form of
sexual intercourse before being it penovaginal, anal
or oral SEX ....period!
Couple of years back, in order to encourage people
who have had sex before to abstain, the term
secondary virginity was introduced.
Hymen: _is a thin membrane that partly covers the
vagina. There are different types of hymen and some
can even cover the vagina entirely (imperforated)._
Unfortunately, a lot of people use the presence or
absence of the hymen to determine a female's
virginity. That can be very deceptive because there
are so many ladies out there without their hymen but
have never had sex before. Sadly, they are expected
to bleed on their first sexual intercourse and if it
doesn't happen, then it means they told a lie. This
controversy has gone on for decades and still going
on. A lot of boyfriends and husbands have all lost
trust for their partners due to this issue of virginity.
_Is there anything which determines that a man has
never had sex before?_
There is nothing except what the man says...his word!
_Isn't the word of a female also enough if she says
she is a virgin?_
There are certain activities that can cause a person to
break the hymen. Some of the activities include:
1. Dripping hot or warm water into the vagina of a
baby when bathing for the baby. Some mothers or
caretakers do this in the name of dressing sores
inside the vagina or cleaning the vagina... what a
shock!
2. Some parents or caretakers also punish children
by grinding ginger with pepper and inserting it into
the vagina as a form of punishment.
3. Riding bicycle, motorcycle, horse riding etc are
some of the activities that can cause the hymen to
break.
4. Some people also got their hymen broken due to
medication. Some medicines are inserted into the
vagina which can also cause the hymen to break or
wear off.
In other cases, some also gets their hymen broken
because a paedophile inserted his penis or finger
into the child's vagina (defilement). Innocent and
naive, she may not know or understand what
happened. She may not tell or could not even talk
well or at all, depending on the age or maturity of the
baby or child. She grows up and can't recall herself
having sex with anybody. She thinks herself as a
virgin. _Is she wrong to say she is? Do you blame her
for saying so?_
Some people also break their hymen in the game, ''
*maame ne paapa*'' (a game by children role playing
parents) by using the penis or the finger.
_Is it still worth using the presence or absence of a
females hymen to judge her?_
In any case, what really matters in a relationship?
Is it
the hymen of a person or her attitude and behaviour
that matter?
Its possible to find somebody whose hymen is
broken or have had sex before but his or her heart is
pure and with good character.
It is also possible to
find somebody whose hymen is intact or have not
had penovaginal sex before but the character of that
person is terrible.
There are some people with their hymen intact but
have had sex before.
1. Some people have thick hymen such that they can
have sex several times but the hymen will still be
there. In some situations, such hymen is surgically
removed.
2. Some people intentionally have anal sex in order
to preserve their hymen for men who place high
value on the presence of hymen.
3. Others also engage in oral sex all in the name of
keeping their hymen intact.
Unfortunately for them and their knowledge, these
are all forms of sexual intercourse.
All of them can
also lead to *
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
It's about time we take a second look at the issue of
virginity otherwise we will continue to treat people
unfairly, push people into doing certain things to
preserve they hymen, make people feel bad for
something which happened to them through no fault
of theirs.
_Even if people have had sex before, don't they
deserve a better relationship or marriage?
_ Most of
the great women and celebrated women and men in
the world including great men and women of God,
did not marry as a virgin.
The present character or behaviour of the person is
what counts and not presence or the absence of
hymen.
FOR PURPOSE OF CLARITY AND FEAR OF BEING
MISUNDERSTOOD...
Virginity is a standard for everyone ( both male and
female) but for the purpose of this writeup, without
any form of bias, no woman should be judged by the
presence or absence of the hymen.
Thanks.

He ordered me with seven things.
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (رضي الله عنه) reported that Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:
“My close friend (i.e. Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم) ordered me with seven things:
(1) To love the poor and to be close to them
(2) To look to those who are less [fortunate] than me and not to those who are above me
(3) To maintain the ties of kinship even if they break them off
(4) To not ask anyone for anything (i.e. to abstain from begging)
(5) To say the truth even if it is unpleasant
(6) To not fear the censure of the critics
(7) To increase in saying: ‘La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah’ (There is no might nor power except with Allah), as it is from the treasures that are underneath the Throne.”
(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 5 pg. 159. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 10 pg. 263)
The Seven
“There are seven whom Allaah will shade with His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His: the just ruler; a young man who grows up worshipping his Lord; a man whose heart is attached to the mosque; two men who love one another for the sake of Allaah and meet and part on that basis; a man who is called by a woman of rank and beauty and says ‘I fear Allaah’; a man who gives in charity and conceals it to such an extent that his left hand does not know what his right hand gives; and a man who remembers Allaah when he is alone, and his eyes fill up.” (Agreed upon, narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 620; Muslim, no. 1712
Zinaa (Fornication)
﷽
ZINA
ZINA (Fornication) is a major sin. It incurs the wrath and anger of Allah Ta’ala.
In a country governed by Shariah law, if an unmarried person is convicted of zina, he/she will be punished hundred lashes. If he/she is a married person, he/she will be stoned to death.
When a person commits zina, the essense of Imaan leaves his heart. Rasullullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam said
Translation: Narrated by Abu Huraira Radhi Allahu Anhu that the Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody drinks an alcoholic drink, then he is not believer at the time of drinking, and when a thief steals, he is not a believer at the time when he is stealing; and when a robber robs and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing it.” (Saheeh al-Bukhari)
SADNESS
The best of cures for sadness is to know that one cannot bring back what he has missed and that by being sad, one is just adding a misfortune to an already existing misfortune thus making it two misfortunes.

When a command comes from Allaah.
When a command comes from Allaah تعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, then all the reasoning, personal opinions, the logic behind it, the pros and cons etc. etc. take a backseat. When a command is known, then immediate and complete submission is required.
{It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allaah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allaah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error. } [Surah al-Ahzaab (33): 36]
Narrated `Alee ibn AbuTaalib رضي الله عنه: “If the religion were based on opinion, it would be more important to wipe the under part of the shoe than the upper but I have seen the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم wiping over the upper part of his shoes.” [Sunan Abu Dawood (162, 164) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]
When Allaah تعالى informed the Angels that He is going to create man, they asked Him the reason why He تعالى would create someone who would do mischief on earth and will spill blood. But when the command came to prostrate, all of them prostrated immediately.
Another Example:
Some of the Companions were praying facing towards Bait al-Maqdis. But, when they were informed that the direction of the Qiblah has changed, they immediately changed their direction, while they were still in Rukoo` (bowing position). [Saheeh al-Bukhaaree]
Similarly:
When the command of the prohibition of wine came, some of the Companions who used to drink immediately broke the containers in which wine was stored. They did not wait to say let us enjoy our last sip, or we’ll stop from tomorrow.
Saying/Sending "Jum'ah Mubarak" on Fridays. The Islamic Perspective
Praise be to Allaah.
Firstly:
There is no doubt that Friday is an “Eid” or “festival” for the Muslims, as it says in the hadeeth narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “This is a day of ‘Eid that Allah has ordained for the Muslims, so whoever comes to Jumu‘ah, let him do ghusl, and if he has any perfume let him put some on, and you should use the miswaak.” Narrated by Ibn Maajah, 1098; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah.
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said, describing the special virtues of Friday:
Thirteen: It is a day of ‘Eid that is repeated every week.
Zaad al-Ma‘aad, 1/369
Thus the Muslims have three Eids: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, which come once every year, and Jumu‘ah which is repeated once every week.
Secondly:
With regard to the Muslims congratulating one another on the occasions of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, this is prescribed and it is narrated from the Sahaabah (may Allah be pleased with them). This has been discussed previously in the answers to questions no. 49021 and 36442. As for congratulating one another on the occasion of Friday, what seems to us to be the case is that it is not prescribed, because the fact that Friday is an Eid was known to the Sahaabah (may Allah be pleased with them), and they were more knowledgeable than us about its virtues, and they were keen to respect it and give it its due, but there is no report to suggest that they used to congratulate one another on Fridays. And all goodness is in following them (may Allah be pleased with them).
Shaykh Saalih ibn Fawzaan (may Allah preserve him) was asked: What is the ruling on sending text messages every Friday and ending with the phrase “Jumu‘ah mubaarak”?
He replied:
The early generation did not congratulate one another on Fridays, so we should not introduce anything that they did not do.
End quote from Ajwabat As’ilah Majallat al-Da‘wah al-Islamiyyah.
A similar fatwa was issued by Shaykh Sulaymaan al-Maajid (may Allah preserve him), when he said:
We do not think it is prescribed to exchange congratulations on Fridays, such as saying to one another, “Jumu‘ah mubaarak” and so on, because it comes under the heading of du‘aa’s and dhikrs, which must be based on a text (of the Qur’aan or Sunnah) because this is purely the matter of worship and if it were good, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would have done it before us. If anyone suggests that this is permissible, then that may imply that it is prescribed to say du‘aa’s and congratulate one another after having done the five daily prayers and other acts of worship, and du‘aa’ at these times was not done by the early generations.
The Deviants
THIS HADITH MAY HELP THE DEVIANTS, ALBIDAH.

A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet (pbuh) asking how the Prophet (pbuh) worshipped (Allah), and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship insufficient and said, "Where are we from the Prophet (pbuh) as his past and future sins have been forgiven." Then one of them said, "I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever." The other said, "I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast." The third said, "I will keep away from the women and will not marry forever." Allah's Messenger (pbuh) came to them and said, "Are you the same people who said so-and-so? By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep and I also marry women. So he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers).

A man was asked to paint
A man was asked to paint a boat.
He brought with him paint & brushes & began to paint the boat a bright red, as the owner had asked him to do.
While painting, he noticed that there was a small hole in the hull, & quietly repaired it.
When he finished, he got paid & he left.
The next day, the owner of the boat came back to him & presented him with a nice cheque, much higher than the initial payment for painting.
The painter was surprised & said "U've already paid me for painting the boat Sir!"
The man replied, "But this is not for the paint job. It's for having repaired the hole in the boat."
The painter exclaimed, "Ah! But it was such a small service... certainly it's not worth paying me such a high amount for something so insignificant."
The man said, "My dear friend, u do not understand. Let me tell u what happened.
When I asked u to paint the boat, I forgot to mention about the hole.
When the boat dried, my kids took the boat & went on a fishing trip.
They did not know that there was a hole & I was not at home at that time so that I could stop them.
When I returned & noticed they had taken the boat, I was desperate & in great distress.
Imagine my relief & joy when I saw them returning from fishing.
Then, I examined the boat & found that u had repaired the hole! Can u see now, what u did? U saved the life of my children! I will never have enough money to pay ur 'small' good deed."
So, no matter who, when or how, just continue to do all ur work with great love & passion. Don't do it for the money but do it with the intention to provide service excellence to the creation of اللَّهُ Subhana wa Ta'ala. Give off ur best efforts to help, heal, sustain, wipe tears, listen attentively & to carefully repair all the 'leaks' u find.
U may never know how ur one act of kindness can change someone's world or even save a life.
In every moment of our service to others whether it be through the work we do, or feeding & looking after our families & communities, اللَّهُ Subhana wa Ta'ala presents us with opportunities to be helpful & important to someone. Don't let these opportunities slip by.
Keep on giving the best of urself to everyone. U may have repaired numerous 'boat holes' along the way of several people without realizing it & in their joy & appreciation of what u did for them they may have sent an abundance of good wishes, thoughts, love, care & duas.
Also don't consider any act menial or tiny . Every single thing that u do holds a mighty & great weight especially if u intend doing it all to please اللَّهُ Subhana wa Ta'ala & to serve Him.
The Bad Deed Satan Loves Most and Pleases Him Most
Jabir reported that Allah’s Messenger SAW said:
“Iblis places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension) ; the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. One of them comes and says: “I did so and so.” And he says: “You have done nothing.” Then one amongst them comes and says: “I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife.” The Satan goes near him and says: “You have done well.” A’mash said: He then embraces him.” [Sahih Muslim]
So to Iblis (Satan/Shaytan/the accursed devil) there is an ultimate goal considered most beloved and pleasing to him. This is: breaking up between a husband and wife and creating disagreements between them.
We find this manifested in many cases. Sometimes a husband won’t stand listening to his wife, he’ll even find her sound annoying and keeps thinking about her complaining all the time, and how she doesn’t appreciate him and how she isn’t feminine enough and and and… so he starts despising her and losing his temper with her.
You may also find a wife that keeps thinking about how annoying her husband’s habits are, how disrespectful it is for him to leave those dishes at the sink …every.single.time! How he doesn’t listen to her attentively when she speaks, how he isn’t like her friend’s husband who is a noble prince (in her imagination only, but he probably also leaves the dishes at the sink), how her husband is not like that dreamy actor from the movie and and and…. so she starts despising him and losing her temper with him.
You’ll find many stories like this. Many couples getting on each other’s nerves and suspicions arising between them…
A small and almost insignificant issue could blast a major fight and disagreement between couples that last for days or even months.
The problem is, many of our brothers and sisters are unaware that:
a) these are all from the works and tactics of Iblis and his followers.
b) Iblis and his followers will surely attempt to create this disagreement between married couples.
Why is Allah allowing this? To test us. Because we are here to be tested. Success is not through having perfectly smooth marriage with no problems at all. Success is when couples learn how to discipline themselves, have patience, get over their egos and masterfully compromise for the sake of peace and mercy and tranquility in their hearts and their lives. And Allah will test who will follow His guidance and who will follow the whispers of Iblis.
c) by not immuning themselves and taking the necessary means to prevent disagreements from happening or escalating, couples are allowing Iblis to achieve his purpose and win over them.
Now, we need to remember that what the noble Prophet teaches us is wahy (revelation) from above seven heavens; from The Most High Himself. And this revelation is mercy.
It is mercy because it’s like an open book exam. We get to know the problem and we get to know the solution as well; we just have to follow.
There is a very important message here. Unity is power. The unity of the ummah would be a major source of power. The first step to weaken the ummah is to weaken and break family ties, create disagreements between husbands and wives and then disagreements between family members. When one is having disagreement at home, do you think he/she will be in a good mood to deal with others peacefully outside of home? Probably not. Frustration will impact everything else and lead to more corruption. More disagreements and fights outside of home will probably occur as well.
And these are the footsteps of Satan that Allah instructed us not to follow…
“O you who have believed, do not follow the footsteps of Satan. And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan – indeed, he enjoins immorality and wrongdoing. And if not for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy, not one of you would have been pure, ever, but Allah purifies whom He wills, and Allah is Hearing and Knowing.” (Qur’an 24: 21)
When footsteps of Satan are followed, then the purpose of marriage gets revoked. How so?
Because Allah told us:
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.” (Qur’an 30: 21)
The purpose of the marriage is to find tranquility, peace, affection and mercy. The opposite of that is when home starts becoming a battlefield of hate, tension and discomfort.
Satan is highly interested in slowly but surely breaking up the family because the family is the foundation of the ummah and a strong united family will lead to a strong united ummah.
And Allah already told us:
“Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy.” (Qur’an 35: 6)
So what do we do with an enemy?
We keep an open eye.
We learn his techniques and be wary of them.
We shield ourselves with strong fortresses.
We don’t become heedless or let go of our weapons lest he attacks.
We make sure we have strong weapons to strike back when necessary.
All of the above could be applied to the Satan situation.
Here is how to immune ourselves:
1- Remember that by seeking the help of Allah, nothing could overpower you. There is noone and nothing that overpowers Allah Almighty.
Satan strikes when we are heedless and unaware, but when we are immune by the remembrance of Allah, then Satan can never overpower that.
“[…] Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak” (Qur’an 4: 76)
And Allah said:
“Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs.” [Qur’an 17: 65]
2- Make sure to recite Surat Al Baqarah at home. It has a very strong and powerful effect on attaining inner peace and peace at home as well.
The Prophet says:
“Do not turn your houses into graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surat Al-Baqarah is recited.” [Muslim].
3- Don’t forget to recite the last 2 verses of Baqarah. The Prophet said:
“Indeed Allah wrote in a book two thousand years before He created the heavens and the earth, and He sent down two Ayat from it to end Surat Al-Baqarah with. If they are recited for three nights in a home, no Shaitan shall come near it.” [Jami` at-Tirmidhi]
4- Recite the adhkar on a daily basis. Have a copy of the “Fortress of the Muslim” and read the morning and evening adhkar because they do shield and protect you from different types of harm. Neglecting them for a day or two or more definitely breaks this shield and makes you more vulnerable to evil attacks of all sorts.
5- Recite Surat Al Ikhlas, Surat Al Falaq and Surat An Nas (Chapters 112, 113, 114 of the Qur’an) three times at dawn and dusk. The Prophet (peace and blessings upon him) said:
“Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas and Al- Mu’awwidhatain (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) three times at dawn and dusk. It will suffice you in all respects.” [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi].
6- Recite this supplication. Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet SAW used to seek Refuge with Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain and say: “Your forefather (i.e. Abraham) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Ishmael and Isaac by reciting the following: ‘O Allah! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.’ ” [Sahih Al Bukhari].
7- When you’re burdened or your heart is heavy, recite this Prophetic dua:
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
Allah’s Messenger used to say at a time of distress, “La ilaha illal-lahu Rabbul-l-‘arsh il-‘azim, La ilaha illallahu Rabbu-s-samawati wa Rabbu-l-ard, Rabbu-l-‘arsh-il-Karim.”
These are just a few of the ocean of knowledge, light, healing and therapy that the Prophet taught us. Learning and maintaining this will contribute significantly- with the will of Allah- to bringing back peace and maintaining peace in your hearts and homes.
There is nothing that frustrates Satan as the constant remembrance of Allah Almighty, your reliance on Him, and you seeking Him and His Protection.
So empower yourself with that and don’t put down your armor.
Reading and listening to the Qur’an regularly will put matters in perspective and bring peace. Let this be part of your daily routine and engage in it with your spouse. Recite adhkar together and remind each other to recite adhkar.
Don’t allow Satan to inflict your ego or let you create negative hateful imaginary scenarios in your head and heart about your spouse. Don’t let him and don’t follow those whispers. Seek Allah and His Protection and He will guide you and descend peace upon you.
And Allah said:
“Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.” [Qur’an 13: 28]
Shrines generally are Haraam in Islam
Shrines are completely Haram (forbidden) in Islam because they are paganistic and polythiestic in nature. Historically, Prophet Muhammad (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) destroyed all the shrines in Mecca. This point cannot be stressed enough: the Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) shed blood of the Sahabah in order that Mecca be cleansed of shrines, and this was one of the Prophet’s first legislative acts after the Muslims conquered Mecca. How is it that the Shia do not realize that what they are doing is completely antithetical to the entire mission of the Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) who was sent to guide a shrine-worshipping people?
The Prophet (صلّى الله عليه وآله وسلّم) repeatedly condemned grave-worshipping in the authentic Hadith:
“Beware of those who preceded you and used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but you must not take graves as mosques; I forbid you to do that.” (Sahih Muslim)
“May Allah’s curse be on the Jews for they built the places of worship at the graves of their Prophets.” (Sahih Bukhari)
“May Allah curse the Jews and Christians for they built the places of worship at the graves of their Prophets.” (Sahih Bukhari)
“If any religious man dies amongst those people they would build a place of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it. They will be the worst creature in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.” (Sahih Bukhari)
“Do not sit on the graves and do not pray facing towards them.” (Sahih Bukhari)
The first time in human history that people commited the sin of idol-worship was around the time of Prophet Nuh (عليه السلام). A very pious man passed away. Shaytan whispered in the ears of the tonwnspeople: he urged them never to forget this pious man lest the townspeople abandon his example and be lost to sin. Once Shaytan had convinced them of the necessity to revere the memory of this pious dead man, he then then convinced them to erect a shrine over the grave of this man. Eventually, the people started praying in the shrine, and soon thereafter Shaytan convinced them to pray to the deceased man.
It was in this step by step fashion that Shaytan was able to misguide people into Shirk. He convinced them that they were doing a good thing by respecting a pious man, and he allowed them to add one Bidah (evil innovation) after another, infusing polythiestic practise in their belief. Likewise do the Shia believe that they are being pious by visiting shrines but in reality they have been fooled by Shaytan.
Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid says:
“Islam forbids erecting structures over graves, and commands that any such structures should be knocked down. But it is permitted to put a marker on the grave so that the family and friends of the deceased will know where it is (and nothing more than this). However, this marker should not be a structure or anything else that is not allowed in sharee’ah.”
With regard to the prohibition on erecting structures over graves, it was narrated that Jabir said: “The Messenger of Allah forbade plastering over graves, sitting on them and erecting structures over them.” (Sahih Muslim, 970)
Al-Shawkani said:
“The phrase ‘erecting structures over them’ indicates that it is Haram to build anything over a grave.”
Al-Shafi’i said:
“I saw the imams in Makkah ordering that what had been built (over graves) was to be knocked down.”
Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid says:
“With regard to the command to knock down structures that have been built over graves, that is proven in the Sunnah.”
It was narrated that Abu’l-Hayaaj al-Asadi said: Ali ibn Abi Talib said to me: “Shall I not send you on the same mission as the Messenger of Allah sent me? Do not leave any statue without erasing it, and do not leave any raised grave without leveling it.” (Sahih Muslim, 969).
Al-Shawkani said:
“The words ‘do not leave any raised grave without leveling it’ means that the Sunnah is that a grave should not be made very high, and there should be no differentiation between those who were virtuous and those who were not virtuous.”
Shaykh Muhammad Salih al-Munajjid says:
“Making a grave higher than the amount that is permitted is Haram…The making graves high that is mentioned in the Hadith especially includes the domes and shrines that are built over graves, and the taking of graves as places of worship. The Prophet cursed those who do that (refer to Nayl al-Awtaar, 4/130).”
All of these pagan shrines should be torn down and removed. Instead, all of the dead should have flat and level graves equal to everyone else. This is the faith of Islam. For the one who cannot accept this, he has deviated away from the path of the Hanif (i.e. the monotheists) and inclined himself towards the Mushriks.
Rulings on the grave of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) related issues
Praise be to Allaah.
The scholars have discussed this issue, in the past and more recently, and they refuted those who quote the fact that the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is inside his mosque as evidence that it is permissible to take graves as places of worship, or to include graves in mosques. We will quote the fatwas of some of our prominent scholars, which discuss in detail the matter raised in the question.
1 – Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
There is a specious argument put forward by those who worship graves, namely the fact that the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is in his mosque. The answer to that is that the Sahaabah (may Allaah be pleased with them) did not bury him in his mosque, rather they buried him in the house of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her). When al-Waleed ibn ‘Abd al-Malik expanded the Mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) at the end of the first century, he incorporated the room into the mosque, but he did wrong thereby, and some of the scholars denounced him for that, but he believed that there was nothing wrong with it for the sake of expanding the mosque.
It is not permissible for a Muslim to take that as evidence that mosques may be built over graves, or that people may be buried inside mosques, because that goes against the saheeh ahaadeeth, and because it is a means that may lead to shirk by associating the occupants of the graves in worship with Allaah. End quote.
Majmoo’ Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz, 5/388, 389.
2 – Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about the ruling on praying in a mosque in which there is a grave.
He replied:
Praying in a mosque in which there is a grave falls into two categories:
(i) Either the grave was there before the mosque, and the mosque was built over the grave. It is essential to shun this mosque and not pray therein, and the one who built it must knock it down; if he does not do so, then the Muslim authorities must knock it down.
(ii) Or the mosque was there before the grave, and the deceased was buried after the mosque was built. In the case the grave must be dug up, and the remains taken out and buried with the people (in the graveyard).
As for praying in such a mosque, it is permissible so long as the grave is not in front of the worshipper, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade praying in the direction of graves.
With regard to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) which is incorporated into his mosque, it is well known that the Mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was built before his death, and was not built over his grave. It is also well known that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was not buried in the mosque, rather he was buried in his house which was separate from the mosque. At the time of al-Waleed ibn ‘Abd al-Malik he wrote to his governor in Madeenah, who was ‘Umar ibn ‘Abd al-‘Azeez, in 88 AH, ordering him to dismantle the Prophet’s Mosque and add to it the rooms of the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). ‘Umar gathered the prominent people and fuqaha’, and read the letter of the caliph al-Waleed to them. That caused them distress, and they said: “Leave it as it is, that is better.” And it was narrated that Sa’eed ibn al-Musayyib denounced the incorporation of ‘Aa’ishah’s room into the mosque, as if he feared that the grave would be taken as a place of worship.
Umar wrote a letter to that effect to al-Waleed, and al-Waleed sent word to him ordering him to carry out his instructions, so ‘Umar had no other choice. So you see that the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was not placed in the mosque, and the mosque was not built over it, so there are no grounds for those who try to quote this as evidence that people may be buried inside mosques or that mosques may be built over graves.
It is proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “May the curse of Allaah be upon the Jews and the Christians; they have taken the graves of their Prophets as places of worship.” He said that as he was dying, as a warning to his ummah against doing what they did. When Umm Salamah told him of a church that she had seen in Ethiopia and the images therein, he said: “Those people, if a righteous man among them died, they would build a place of worship over his grave. They are the most evil of people before Allaah.” And it was narrated from Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Among the most evil of people upon whom the Hour will come when they are still alive are those who take graves as places of worship.” Narrated by Imam Ahmad with a jayyid isnaad.
The believer should not accept to follow the ways of the Jews and the Christians, or to be among the most evil of people.

And Allaah knows best.
What to do when in anger.
Anger Management ~ Some Solutions and Remedies
1. Seeking refuge in Allah from the Shaytaan. One should read: A’oozu Billaahi Minashaytaanir Rajeem. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said :
إِنِّي لأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ غَضَبُهُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Verily, I know a statement, that if he were to say it,
his anger would leave: “I seek refuge in Allah from Shaitan, the rejected” [Tirmidhi]
2. Remain Silent. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said :
وَإِذَا غَضِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَسْكُتْ.
. … “When one of you is angry, he should be silent.” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]
3.Make Whudu.:-
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said :
إِنَّ الْغَضَبَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ خُلِقَ مِنَ النَّارِ وَإِنَّمَا تُطْفَأُ النَّارُ بِالْمَاءِ فَإِذَا غَضِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ …
“Anger comes from the devil, the devil was created of fire, and fire is extinguished only with water; so when one of you becomes angry, he should perform ablution.” [Sunan Abi Dawood]
4. Sit or Lie Down:-
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam has said :
إِذَا غَضِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فَلْيَجْلِسْ فَإِنْ ذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الْغَضَبُ وَإِلاَّ فَلْيَضْطَجِعْ …
“When one of you becomes angry while standing, he should sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise he should lie down”. [Sunan Abi Dawood]

The Price of Loving each other for the sake of Allaah
Al Imaam Al Muhaddith Shaykh Muhammad Nasiruddeen al-Albani (Rahimahullaah)
Questioner: Someone who loves a person for the sake of Allaah, must he say, “I love you for the sake of Allaah,” to him?
Al-Albaani: Yes, but loving [someone] for the sake of Allaah has a huge price, only very few people pay it. Do you know what the price [to be paid] for loving someone for Allaah’s sake is? Do any of you know the price?
Let whoever knows give us the answer.
Someone present: Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ said, “There are seven whom Allaah will shade with His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His …” one of the categories mentioned are two men who love each other for Allaah’s sake, who get together for that reason and part for it too.
Al-Albaani: This is correct in and of itself but it is not the answer to the question, it’s an approximate definition of loving for the sake of Allaah but not a conclusive one.
My question was what is the price that two people who love each other for the sake of Allaah must give one another? And I’m not referring to the reward in the Hereafter. What I’m getting at from the question is what is the practical proof that two people love each other for the sake of Allaah? Because two people may love each other but their love is nominal, not real.
So what is the proof of true love?
Someone present: “That he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.”
Al-Albaani: This is the characteristic of love or [at the very least] one of the characteristics of love …
Someone else: Allaah said, “Say: ‘If you love Allaah, then follow me and He will love you.’” [Aali-’Imraan 3:31]
Al-Albaani: This is the correct answer to another question.
Someone present: Maybe the answer can be found in the authentic hadith,
“There are three things if found in a person, he will experience the sweetness of faith …” one of which is two people who love each other for Allaah’s sake.
Al-Albaani: This is the effect of loving someone for the sake of Allaah, [that you find] a [certain] sweetness in your heart.
Someone present: The Most High said, “ By Time! Indeed, mankind is in loss. Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other patience*
” [SurahAsr103]
Al-Albaani: Well done. That is the answer.
And an explanation of that is that if I really love you for the sake of Allaah I would persist in advising you, and you would do the same.
Persevering in advising one another is very rare between those who claim to love each other, this love might have some sincerity in it, but it is not complete, because we try to make an allowance for the other, afraid that the other person will become angry, that he will flee … and so on.
It is in light of this that [you can see that] the cost of loving someone for the sake of Allaah is that each person shows sincerity towards the other by advising him, always and forever telling him to do good and preventing him from bad—he is more constant in advising him than that person’s own shadow is close—for this reason it has been authentically reported that when parting from one another, one of the habits of the Companions was that one of them would read to the other, “By Time! Indeed, mankind is in loss. Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.” [Surah Asr 103]

Full explanation on celebrating Mawlid Nabiyy
Should we celebrate Mawlid (The Prophet's (s) birthday)?
Yes we should celebrate it every year And every month and every week And every hour and every moment.
Dr. `Isa al-Mani` al-Humayri, Department of Awqaaf, Dubai
Office of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Dubai
Administration of Ifta' and Research
We find nowadays publications filled with lies and deception which mislead many Muslims into thinking negatively about the honorable Mawlid of the Prophet. These publications claim that to celebrate the Mawlid is an act of innovation that goes against Islam. This is far from the truth, and it is therefore necessary for those who can speak clearly to help clarify and reverse the doubts surrounding this most blessed day. It is with this humble intention that I present the following proofs in support of celebrating our beloved Prophet's birthday.
The Prophet said, "He who innovates something in this matter of ours that is not of it will have it rejected." He also said, "Beware of innovations, for every innovation (kul bida`) is misguidance."
Those opposed to Mawlid cite this saying and hold that the word every (kul) is a term of generalization, including all types of innovations, with no exception, and that therefore, celebrating Mawlid is misguidance. By daring to say that, they accuse the scholars of Islam of innovation. At the top of the list of those they have accused, then, is our Master `Umar (r). Those in opposition to Mawlid quickly reply to this, "But we did not mean the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad."
It follows, then, that the meaning of every (kul) cannot be taken in its general sense. Therefore, although the Prophet may not have said to celebrate his blessed birthday, it is nonetheless not innovation to do so. For, as the following examples show, there were many actions and practices instituted by his close followers after his time that are not deemed innovation.
Compiling the Qu'ran.
(From a Prophetic saying related by Zaid Ibn Thabit.(r)) "The Prophet died and the Qu'ran had not been compiled anywhere. `Umar (r) suggested to Abu Bakr (r) to compile the Qu'ran in one book. When a large number of Companions were killed in the battle of Yamama, Abu Bakr wondered, "How could we do something that the Prophet did not do?' `Umar said, "By Allah, it is good.' `Umar persisted in asking Abu Bakr until Allah expanded his chest for it (Allah made him agree and accept these suggestions) and he sent for Zaid Ibn Thabit and assigned him to compile the Qu'ran." Zaid said, "By Allah if they had asked me to move a mountain, it would not have been more difficult than to compile the Qur'an." He also said, "How could you do something that the Prophet did not do?" Abu Bakr said, "It is good, and `Umar kept coming back to me until Allah expanded my chest for the matter." The saying is narrated in Sahih Al Bukhari.
The Maqam of Ibrahim (as) in relation to the Ka'ba.
(Al Bayhaqi narrated with a strong chain of narrators from Aisha.) "The Maqam during the time of the Prophet and Abu Bakr was attached to the House, then `Umar moved it back." Al Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in Al Fath, "The Companions did not oppose `Umar, neither did those who came after them, thus it became unanimous agreement." He was the first to build the enclosure (maqsura) on it, which still exists today.
Adding the first call to prayer on Friday.
(From Sahih Al Bukhari, from Al Sa'ib bin Yazid.) "During the time of the Prophet (s), Abu Bakr (r) and `Umar (r), the call to Friday prayer used to occur when the Imam sat on the pulpit. When it was Othman's (r) time, he added the third call (considered third in relation to the first adhan and the iqama. But it is named first because it proceeds the call to the Friday prayer.)"
Salutations on the Prophet composed and taught by our Master `Ali (r).
The salutations have been mentioned by Sa'id bin Mansoor and Ibn Jareer in Tahzeeb al Aathar, and by Ibn Abi Assim and Ya'qoob bin Shaiba in Akhbar `Ali and by Al Tabarani and others from Salamah Al Kindi.
The addition to the tashahhud by Ibn Mas'ud.
After "wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu," and the Mercy of Allah and Blessings, he used to say, "assalamu `alayna min Rabbina," peace upon us from our Lord. Narrated by Al Tabarani in Al Kabir, and the narrators are those of the sound transmitters, as it has been mentioned in Majma' Al Zawa'id.
The addition to the tashahhud by Abdullah Ibn `Umar.
He added the basmalah at the beginning of the tashahhud. He also added to the talbia, "labbaika wa sa'daika wal khayru bi yadayka wal raghba'u ilayika wal `amalu" This is mentioned in Bukhari, Muslim, et al.
These are some of the developments instituted by the Prophet's Companions, the scholars, and the honorable members of his nation, which did not exist during the time of the Prophet, and which they deemed good. Are they, then, misguided and guilty of bad innovation?
As for the claim that there is no such thing in religion as good innovation, here are some sayings of the brilliant scholars of Islam belying this claim.
Imam Nawawi said in Sahih Muslim (6-21)
"The Prophet's saying every innovation is a general-particular and it is a reference to most innovations. The linguists say, "Innovation is any act done without a previous pattern, and it is of five different kinds.'" Imam Nawawi also said in Tahzeeb al Asma' wal Sifaat, "Innovation in religious law is to originate anything which did not exist during the time of the Prophet, and it is divided into good and bad." He also said, "Al-muhdathat (pl. for muhdatha) is to originate something that has no roots in religious law. In the tradition of religious law it is called innovation, and if it has an origin within the religious law, then it is not innovation. Innovation in religious law is disagreeable, unlike in the language where everything that has been originated without a previous pattern is called innovation regardless of whether it is good or bad."
Shaykh Ibn Hajar Al Asqalani, the commentator on Al Bukhari, said,
"Anything that did not exist during the Prophet's time is called innovation, but some are good while others are not."
Abu Na'eem, narrated from Ibrahim Al Junaid, said, "I heard Ash-Shafi'i saying,
"Innovation is of two types; praiseworthy innovation and blameworthy innovation, and anything that disagrees with the Sunnah is blameworthy.'"
Imam Albayhaqi narrated in Manaqib Ash-Shafi'i that Ash-Shafi'i said,
"Innovations are of two types: that which contradicts the Qu'ran, the Sunnah, or unanimous agreement of the Muslims is a innovation of deception, while a good innovation does not contradict any of these things."
Al `Izz bin Abdussalam said, at the end of his book, Al Qawa'id,
"Innovation is divided into obligatory, forbidden, recommended, disagreeable and permissible, and the way to know which is which is to match it against the religious law."
Clearly we see from the opinions of these righteous scholars, that to define innovations in worship as wholly negative without exception is ignorant. For these pious knowers, among them Imam Nawawi and Ash-Shafi'i, declared that innovations could be divided into good and bad, based on their compliance or deviance with religious law.
Moreover, the following Prophetic saying is known even to common Muslims, let alone scholars: "He who inaugurates a good practice (sunnatun hasana) in Islam earns the reward of it, and of all who perform it after him, without diminishing their own rewards in the least."
Therefore it is permissible for a Muslim to originate a good practice, even if the Prophet didn't do it, for the sake of doing good and cultivating the reward. The meaning of inaugurate a good practice (sanna sunnatun hasana) is to establish a practice through personal reasoning (ijtihad) and derivation (istinbat) from the rules of religious law or its general texts. The actions of the Prophet's Companions and the generation following them which we have stated above is the strongest evidence.
The ones prejudiced against celebrating the Prophet's birthday have paved the way for their falsehood by deceiving the less-learned among the Muslims. The prejudiced ones claim that Ibn Kathir writes in his Al Bidaya wal Nihaya (11-172) that the Fatimide-Obaidite state, which descends from the Jew, Obaidillah Bin Maimoon Al Kaddah, ruler of Egypt from 357-567 A.H., innovated the celebration of a number of days, among them, the celebration of the Prophet's birthday. This treacherous lie is a grave insult to the scholarship of Ibn Kathir and the scholarship of all Islam. For in truth, Ibn Kathir writes about the Prophet's birthday in Al bidaya wal nihaya [13-136] "The victorious king Abu Sa'id Kawkaburi, was one of the generous, distinguished masters, and the glorious kings; he left good impressions and used to observe the honorable Mawlid by having a great celebration. Moreover, he was chivalrous, brave, wise, a scholar, and just." Ibn Kathir continues, "And he used to spend three hundred thousand Dinars on the Mawlid." In support, Imam Al Dhahabi writes of Abu Sa'id Kawkaburi, in Siyar A'laam al nubala' [22-336] "He was humble, righteous, and loved religious learned men and scholars of Prophetic saying."
Following are some sayings of the rightly guided Imams regarding the Mawlid.
Imam Al Suyuti, from Alhawi lil fatawi, wrote a special chapter entitled "The Good Intention in Commemorating the Mawlid," at the beginning of which he said,
"There is a question being asked about commemorating the Mawlid of the Prophet in the month of Rabi' Al Awal: what is the religious legal ruling in this regard, is it good or bad? Does the one who celebrates get rewarded or not?" The answer according to me is as follows: To commemorate the Mawlid, which is basically gathering people together, reciting parts of the Qu'ran, narrating stories about the Prophet's birth and the signs that accompanied it, then serving food, and afterwards, departing, is one of the good innovations; and the one who practices it gets rewarded, because it involves venerating the status of the Prophet and expressing joy for his honorable birth.
Ibn Taymiyya said in his book Iqtida' Al Sirat Al Mustaqeem (pg. 266)
"Likewise, what some people have innovated, in competition with the Christians in celebrating the birth of Jesus, or out of love and veneration of the Prophet⦣128;榱uot; and he continues "⦣128;洨at the predecessors didn't do, even though there is a reason for it, and there is nothing against it." This is a saying of someone who set fanaticism aside and sought to please Allah and his Prophet. As far as we are concerned, we commemorate the Mawlid for no other reason but what Ibn Taymiya said, "Out of love and veneration of the Prophet." May Allah reward us according to this love and effort, and may Allah bless the one who said, "Let alone what the Christians claim about their Prophet, and you may praise Muhammad in any way you want and attribute to his essence all honors and to his status all greatness, for his merit has no limits that any expression by any speaker might reach."
In the same source previously mentioned, Al Suyuti said,
"Someone asked Ibn Hajar about commemorating the Mawlid. Ibn Hajar answered, "Basically, commemorating the Mawlid is an innovation that has not been transmitted by the righteous Muslims of the first three centuries. However, it involves good things and their opposites, therefore, whoever looks for the good and avoids the opposites then it is a good innovation.' It occurred to me (Al Suyuti) to trace it to its established origin, which has been confirmed in the two authentic books: Al Sahihain. When the Prophet arrived in Medina he found that the Jews fast the day of Aashura; when he inquired about it they said, "This is the day when Allah drowned the Pharaoh and saved Moses, therefore we fast it to show our gratitude to Allah.' From this we can conclude that thanks are being given to Allah on a specific day for sending bounty or preventing indignity or harm." Al Suyuti then commented, "What bounty is greater than the bounty of the coming of this Prophet, the Prophet of Mercy, on that day?"
"This is regarding the basis of Mawlid. As for the activities, there should be only the things that express thankfulness to Allah, such as what has been previously mentioned: reciting Qu'ran, eating food, giving charity, reciting poetry praising the Prophet or on piety which moves hearts and drives them to do good and work for the Hereafter."
These are the derivations that those opposed to Mawlid call false conclusions and invalid analogies.

Yet, every Monday his torment is being reduced because of his joy at the birth of the Prophet." How much mercy can a servant expect who spends all his life joyous about the Prophet and dies believing in the Oneness of Allah?

Imam Abu Shama
Imam Abu Shama (Imam Nawawi's shaykh) in his book Al ba'ith ala Inkar Al bida` wal hawadith (pg.23) said, "One of the best innovations in our time is what is being done every year on the Prophet's birthday, such as giving charity, doing good deeds, displaying ornaments, and expressing joy, for that expresses the feelings of love and veneration for him in the hearts of those who are celebrating, and also, shows thankfulness to Allah for His bounty by sending His Messenger, the one who has been sent as a Mercy to the worlds."
Imam Al Shihab Al Qastalani
Imam Al Shihab Al Qastalani (Al Bukhari's commentator) in his book Al mawahib Al Ladunniya (1-148) said, "May Allah have mercy on the one who turns the nights of the month of the Prophet's birth into festivities in order to decrease the suffering of those whose hearts are filled with disease and sickness."
There are others who wrote and spoke about Mawlid, such as Imam Al Sakhawi, Imam Wajihu Din bin `Ali bin al Dayba' al Shaybani al Zubaidi, and many more, which we will not mention due to the limited space available. From these many evidences, it should be clear by now that celebrating the Mawlid is highly commendable and allowed. Surely we cannot simply shrug off as heretics the scholars and dignitaries of this nation who approved the commemoration of the Mawlid and wrote countless books on the subject. Are all these scholars, to whom the whole world is indebted for the beneficial books they have written on Prophetic sayings, jurisprudence, commentaries, and other sorts of knowledge, among the indecent who commit sins and evil? Are they, as those opposed to Mawlid claim, imitating the Christians in celebrating the birth of Jesus? Are they claiming that the Prophet did not convey to the nation what they should do? We leave answers to these questions up to you.
And yet we must continue to examine the errors which those opposed to Mawlid utter. They say "If celebrating the Mawlid is from the religion, then the Prophet would have made it clear to the nation, or would have done it in his lifetime, or it would have been done by the Companions." No one can say that the Prophet did not do it out of his humbleness, for this is speaking evil of him, so they cannot use this argument.
Furthermore, that the Prophet and his Companions did not do a certain thing does not mean they made that thing prohibited. The proof is in the Prophet's saying, "Whoever establishes, in Islam, a good practice..." cited earlier. This is the strongest evidence that gives encouragement to innovate whatever practices have foundations in religious law, even if the Prophet and his Companions did not do them. Al Shafi'i said, "Anything that has a foundation in religious law is not an innovation even if the Companions did not do it, because their refraining from doing it might have been for a certain excuse they had at the time, or they left it for something better, or perhaps not all of them knew about it." Therefore, whoever prohibits anything based on the concept that the Prophet did not do it, his claim has no proof and must be rejected.
Thus we say to the rejecters of Mawlid: based on the rule you have attempted to found, that is, that whoever does anything that the Prophet or his Companions did not do is committing innovation, it would follow that the Prophet did not complete the religion for his nation, and that the Prophet did not convey to the nation what they should do. No one says this or believes this except a heretic defecting from the religion of Allah. To the doubters of Mawlid we declare, "Based on what you say, we convict you." For you have innovated in the basics of worship a large number of things that the Prophet did not do⦣128;⦣128;Ânor did his Companions, the Generation after the Companions, or the Generation after them.
For instance:
Congregating people behind one Imam to pray Salat al Tahajjud after Salat Al Tarawih, in the two Holy Mosques and other mosques.
Reciting the Prayer of Completion of the Qu'ran in Salat al Tarawih and also in Salat al Tahajjud.
Designating the 27th night of Ramadan to complete reading the entire Qu'ran in the two Holy Mosques.
A caller saying, after Salat al Tarawih, in the Qiyam prayer, "May Allah reward you."
Founding organizations which did not exist in the time of the Prophet, such as Islamic universities, societies for committing the Qu'ran to memory, and offices for missionary work, and committees for enjoining good and forbidding evil. We are not objecting to these things, since they are forms of good innovation. We merely list these innovations to point out that those who oppose Mawlid clearly contradict their own rule stating that anything that neither the Prophet nor his Companions did is innovation. And since they claim that all innovation is bad, they themselves are guilty.
Yet another claim they make is to say that those who commemorate the Mawlid are mostly indecent and immoral. This is a vulgar statement and it only reflects the character of the one saying it. Are all the distinguished scholars that we have mentioned, from the point of view of those opposed to Mawlid, indecent and immoral? We won't be surprised if this is what they believe. This is a most serious slander. We say, as the poet said, "When Allah wants to spread a virtue that has been hidden, He would let a tongue of an envious person know about it."
Those opposed to Mawlid, may Allah guide them, have confused some expressions, and claim that some religious scholars associate partners with Allah. Take for example the plea of Imam Al Busiery to Prophet Muhammad, "Oh, most generous of creation, I have no one to resort to, save You, when the prevailing event takes place." They must examine carefully the saying of Imam Al Busiery: inda hulul il amim, when the prevailing event takes place. What is al Amim? It means that which prevails over the whole universe, and all of creation, in referring to the Day of Judgment. Imam Al Busiery is asking intercession from the Prophet on the Day of Judgment because on that Day we will have no one to resort to, or appeal to.
Imam Al Busiery seeks his intercession to Allah through the Prophet, for when all other Messengers and Prophets will be saying, "Myself, myself," the Prophet will be saying, "I am the one for it, I am for it [the Intercession]" It becomes even more clear now that the doubts of those opposed to Mawlid are unfounded, just as their charges of associating partners with Allah are unfounded. This is due to their blindness, both physical and spiritual.
Another similar example can be found in the well-known saying transmitted by the distinguished Imam Al Kamal bin Al Hammam Al Hanafi, author of Fath il Qadeer fi manasik al Farisi, and Sharh al Mukhtar min al sada al ahnaf. When Imam Abu Hanifa visited Medina , he stood in front of the honorable grave of the Prophet and said, "O, most honorable of the Two Weighty Ones (humankind and jinn)! O, treasure of mankind, shower your generosity upon me and please me with your pleasure. I am aspiring for your generosity, and there is no one for Abu Hanifa in the world but you." Again, we must not misinterpret this entreaty, but realize its true meaning.
Yet another misconception those opposed to Mawlid hold can be seen in their statements such as these: "What occurs during Mawlid is mixing between men and women, singing and playing musical instruments, and drinking alcohol." I myself know this to be a lie, for I have attended many Mawlids and have not seen any mixing, and never heard any musical instruments. And as for drunkenness, yes, I have seen it, but not that of worldly people. We found people intoxicated with the love of the Prophet, a state surpassing even the agony of death, which we know overcame our master Bilal at the time of his death. In the midst of this sweet stupor he was saying, "Tomorrow I shall meet the loved ones, Muhammad and his Companions."
To continue, those opposed to Mawlid say, "The day of the Prophet's birth is the same day of the week as his death. Therefore, joy on this day is no more appropriate than sorrow, and if religion is according to one's opinion, then this day should be a day of mourning and sorrow." This kind of lame eloquence, is answered by the Imam Jalal al Din al Suyuti, in Al hawi lil fatawi (pg.193), "The Prophet's birth is the greatest bounty, and his death is the greatest calamity. Religious law urges us to express thankfulness for bounties, and be patient and remain calm during calamities.
Religious law has commanded us to sacrifice an animal on the birth of a child [and distribute the meat to the needy], which is an expression of gratitude and happiness with the newborn, while it did not command us to sacrifice at the time of death. Also, it prohibited wailing and showing grief. Therefore, the rules of Divine Law indicate that it is recommended to show joy during the month of the Prophet's birth, and not to show sorrow for his death."
Furthermore, Ibn Rajab, in his book Al lata'if, dispraising the rejecters of Mawlid based on the above argument, said, "Some designated the day of Aashura as a funeral ceremony for the murder of Al Hussein. But neither Allah nor His Prophet commanded that the days of the prophets' great trials or deaths should be declared days of mourning, let alone those with lesser rank."
We conclude this article with a saying of the Prophet, which has been narrated by Abu Ya'la, from Hudhaifa and about which Ibn Kathir said, "It's chain of transmission is good." Abu Ya'la said, "The Prophet has said, "One of the things that concerns me about my nation is a man who studied the Qu'ran, and when its grace started to show on him and he had the appearance of a Muslim, he detached himself from it, and threw it behind his back, and went after his neighbor with a sword and accused him of associating partners with Allah.' I then asked, "Oh, Prophet of Allah, which one is more guilty of associating partners with Allah, the accused or the accuser?' The Prophet said, "It is the accuser.'"
Completed, with all Praises to Allah and salutations and peace be upon our master Muhammad and the family of Muhammad and his Companions.
Ma'a Salaam
