President Donald Trump’s ban on refugees from seven war torn Muslim countries, three of which are members of the African Union, have shocked many in the political world with its harshness and many have claimed that it is unconstitutional.
Among the many against the ban was the head of the African Union, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma who: “The very country to which many of our people were taken as slaves during the transatlantic slave trade has now decided to ban refugees from some of our countries.”

Trump’s new order stated that individuals from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia would be barred entry into the United States for 90 days. Donald Trump and his supporters believe that the new order will keep radical Islamist terrorists out of the country.
Hours after the document was signed people travelling from the country were immediately stopped at the border.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stated: “African nations are also among the world’s largest and most generous hosts of refugees. African borders remain open for those in need of protection, when so many borders are being closed, even in the most developed countries in the world.”
